Welcome BBQ
Kick off the start of each semester with a Welcome Back BBQ!
NSA holds a BBQ down at the beach to open the year and another to bring everyone back together after the winter break. |
End of Year Ball
An exciting, themed formal event to finish the year. In the past we have had "Kohaku Uta Gassen", Masquerade, and "Yakuza and Geisha" themes. Who knows what this year's will be?

HanamiThe Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival! Cherry blossoms bloom at Auburn Botanic Gardens once every year. From Sumo to Silent Disco, Godzilla to gardens, and origami to okonomiyaki – Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival caters to all ages and interests.
Come in a kimono or in cosplay for free entry! |
Language Workshops
NSA holds weekly language workshops for absolute beginners, beginners and intermediate Japanese learners. This is a great opportunity for you to meet other Japanese learners and practice your speaking and listening skills.
For more information, you can join the Facebook group here. |
Hangouts & UNSW Global
Looking to just have a chill time? NSA Hangouts include Trivia Nights, Game Nights, and other occasional impromptu social gatherings. We also get exchange students from our partner universities in Japan through UNSW Global. During their visit in Australia, we hold fantastic events with them to further exchange Japanese and Australian culture and friendship.
|
Karaoke
Enjoy karaoke with your friends? Come down with NSA too! Usually at Mizuya or Echo Point, we often like to go at the start of semester or after exams to relax and celebrate together!
(It's also a good chance to practice those hiragana reading skills) We are sponsored by Echo Point Karaoke! Find out more here. |
Dinners
Whether it's a welcome dinner, mid-sem dinner, farewell dinner, or maybe we just feel like eating out, we often enjoy our meals together! Dinner meets are a great way to get to know other NSA members (and find good places to eat in/around the city).
|
Food Events
If you like Japanese food, why not come to our food events? We hold events on and off campus involving yakisoba, okonomiyaki, takoyaki and Japanese shaved ice! If you have an idea for something, you can message us and let's work something out!
|
JAC Camp
We hold a yearly camp during winter break with the Japanese societies of the University of Sydney (Wasabi) and UTS (JASS). This is not only a good opportunity to become closer with fellow NSA members, but also to make friends with those from other universities who share the same love for Japanese culture!
|
JAC Events
At the beginning of each year, we have a great JAC Orientation event organised with the University of Sydney and UTS to improve the tie between the JAC members and make more friends! We also hold other JAC events throughout the year so come along and enjoy the fun!
